The National Capital Chapter Thoth Awards seek to recognize outstanding strategic public relations programs. The RH Strategic team recently won two awards for campaigns with GCI’s ThinkArctic Podcast and MediaPRO’s State of Privacy and Security Awareness annual report. As the Arctic’s rapid warming increasingly has captured the world’s attention, our client, GCI (Alaska’s largest telecom company) saw strategic importance in attending Arctic conferences to engage in conversations related to the expertise needed to build infrastructure in the region. By partnering on GCI’s ThinkArctic Podcast, RH Strategic built buzz at the events GCI was attending and positioned the company as an Arctic telecom leader.
The podcast explores the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Arctic and aims to create a conversation between those living in the Arctic and those making decisions. Since its inception, we have recorded and produced nearly 40 episodes, with high-profile guests like Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Deadliest Catch’s Captain Sean Dwyer and American Ninja Warrior’s Nick Hansen. The episodes can be found on GCI’s ThinkArctic Podcast page.

Our work with MediaPRO, a market leader in security and privacy awareness education, spans leadership programs and traditional media relations. As part of its commitment to delivering up-to-date, comprehensive training, MediaPro conducts an annual survey called the State of Privacy and Security Awareness.
RH Strategic devised a plan to generate extended press coverage for the annual report beyond just the privacy and security awareness arenas by drawing attention to the vast need for cybersecurity and privacy education in the healthcare, retail, education and finance industries. The 2017 media outreach yielded numerous top-tier and vertical trade coverage (in addition to increasing MediaPRO’s web traffic and domain authority). Coverage spanned articles in Dark Reading, Education Week, Bloomberg BNA, The Hill, HuffPost UK, CSO Online, Retail Dive and others.
