After Capitol Attack, Communicators’ Obligations Are Clear

In the immediate aftermath of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, CEO John Raffetto published an article in PR News about what it means for communicators.

In this article, he covers the warning signs of the attack in the rise of QAnon and Trump’s use of social media to spread disinformation, as well as the consequences of law enforcement and Big Tech’s failure to realize and curtail the very real danger of far-right extremism. Moving forward, he advises, communicators much approach their jobs with greater care and responsibility, aware of how those in power in the Capitol and elsewhere can twist language to mislead the public.
